The AYOS Story

My name is Jean-Paul Mvongo, and I was born in the Ayos region of Cameroon. As the child of a coffee farmer, the craft of coffee production was practically in my blood. This is the story of Ayos Coffee.

Since colonial times: a legacy of coffee production
My family has been producing Robusta coffee in the Ayos region since colonial times. This long-standing and deeply rooted tradition in coffee cultivation is the strong foundation of Ayos Coffee.

2018 – the birth of an idea
Inspired by my heritage, the vision arose to market our coffee directly, creating an immediate connection between our coffee producers in Cameroon and coffee lovers worldwide.

End of 2018 – the first step
I took this vision seriously and created a comprehensive business plan. The branding for Cafe Eba, named after my father from whom we inherited our plantation, was developed.

2020 – the beginning of a new era
The first import of raw coffee to Switzerland marked the beginning of our journey. The initial test roasts and tastings were a complete success.

End of 2020 – Challenges and Opportunities
The interest of a large retailer in a delivery of 20 tons presented us with challenges, as our supply chains were not yet established.

2020 – an encounter that changed everything
I met my partner Pia Clodi, a talented art director and photographer from a coffee dynasty (Titze Kaffee). Her enthusiasm for our project led her to take over the artistic direction and design the layout and logo of our packaging.


2021 – a new name, a new identity
To emphasize our connection with Cameroon and its region, we have renamed Cafe Eba to Ayos Coffee.


2022 – Building a Future
We focused on building a professional distribution chain to ensure reliable and sustainable deliveries.

Summer 2023 – the next level
During a morning run, I told Martin about my idea to produce premium Robusta coffee from Cameroon. Martin, an experienced business expert and successful entrepreneur, and Patrick, a retail and e-commerce specialist, were immediately enthusiastic. Their extensive expertise took Ayos Coffee to a new level.

End of 2023 – a new chapter begins

With the official founding of Ayos Coffee GmbH at the end of 2023, a new, exciting chapter in our history began.
